In this devotional hymn, the poet-saint Kabir urges people to lovingly sing and remember the names of God—Rama, Govinda, and Hari. He explains that the practice of chanting the divine name requires no difficult austerities, rituals, or expensive offerings. It does not demand wealth or possessions, yet it grants immense spiritual benefit. Human beings often become lost in the pursuit of worldly prosperity, comfort, and happiness, forgetting the simple path of devotion. Kabir reminds devotees that a mouth which does not utter the name of Rama is spiritually empty and is as if filled with dust. The hymn teaches that remembering and chanting the divine name is the easiest and most precious spiritual practice, bringing purity, devotion, and connection with God without any material cost.
