In this humble devotional prayer, the poet-saint Tulasidas appeals to Lord Rama, the son of King Dasharatha, lovingly called Raghunandana. The devotee earnestly requests the Lord to remove the dual sufferings and troubles of worldly life. With deep humility, the devotee asks that his mind, compared to a pure swan (hamsa), may find a secure resting place within the cage of the Lord’s lotus feet—symbolizing complete surrender and spiritual refuge in the divine. Finally, Tulasidas, with folded hands, prays that Lord Rama may carry him across the vast ocean of worldly existence (bhava sagara), granting liberation from the cycle of birth and death. The hymn expresses deep devotion, surrender, and the longing for divine grace and spiritual liberation through the compassionate protection of Lord Rama.
