This hymn is a loving devotional song in praise of Lord Krishna, addressing him by many of his affectionate and divine names. The devotee calls out to Govinda and Gopala, the protector of cows and the beloved son of Nanda, who is adored by Radha and the gopis of Vraja.

The hymn also remembers Krishna as the Lord of the great devotee Mirabai, who worshipped him with complete surrender and love. Krishna is praised as Murali Gopala, the enchanting flute-player whose divine music attracts the hearts of all beings. He is also glorified as the one who lifted Mount Govardhana to protect the people of Vraja, demonstrating his compassion and divine power.

The song further celebrates him as the cherished child of Nanda and Yashoda, and as Venu Gopala, the sweet flute-playing cowherd of Vrindavana. It also recalls his heroic deed of subduing the serpent Kaliya, thereby protecting the people of Vraja. Through these sacred names and memories, the hymn expresses deep devotion, love, and gratitude toward Lord Krishna, inviting devotees to remember his divine play, protection, and grace.
