This philosophical and devotional hymn celebrates the divine play of the Supreme Lord throughout the entire universe. The hymn declares that God joyfully manifests and operates within the cosmic universe (brahmanda), expressing himself through all aspects of existence.

The verses reflect deep teachings of Vedanta. The repeated expressions such as 'Hamsa Soham' and 'Soham' indicate the realization that the individual soul is ultimately one with the Supreme Reality. The hymn proclaims the awareness of the divine Self as the all-pervading Paramatma, complete, infinite, and identical with Brahman.

It further describes how the Divine functions through the human body and senses—touch, sight, hearing, taste, and smell—as well as through the vital forces of life. The Lord manifests through all sensory experiences such as sound, touch, and taste, and through the three fundamental qualities of nature: sattva (purity), rajas (activity), and tamas (inertia).

The hymn also acknowledges that the Divine is present in the inner faculties of the mind—intellect, mind, memory, and ego—and in the five great elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Ultimately, the Lord appears as the Paramahamsa, the supreme spiritual reality who freely moves throughout creation and who is the source behind the cosmic functions associated with Brahma, Vishnu, and Rudra.

Chanting this hymn inspires a profound spiritual insight that the entire universe is the divine play of God, and that the same divine presence exists within the heart of every being.
