This hymn is a devotional invocation to the Divine Mother as Kundalini, the primordial spiritual energy that resides within every human being. The devotee calls upon the Mother to awaken from her dormant state in the Muladhara, the root spiritual center symbolized as a lotus. In yogic tradition, Kundalini is described as a coiled serpent-like energy (bhujaga-rupini) resting in the base of the spine, representing the latent divine power within the individual. The hymn praises the Goddess as Adi Shakti, the original cosmic energy, as well as Mahashakti and Parashakti, the supreme and transcendent power that sustains and governs the universe. It further acknowledges that the same Divine Mother manifests as Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom; Mahalakshmi, the giver of prosperity and harmony; and Mahamaya, the mysterious cosmic power that creates and governs the universe. By chanting this hymn, devotees pray for the awakening of their inner spiritual energy and the unfolding of divine consciousness. The awakening of Kundalini symbolizes spiritual transformation, leading the seeker from ignorance to wisdom, from limitation to divine bliss (Nityananda), and from ordinary awareness to realization of the ultimate divine presence within.
